Welcome to Camp Obadiah

Camp Obadiah is a seventy-five acre rural getaway located four hours north of Sydney on the beautiful mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia. With direct access to the Pacific Highway midway between the major regional centres of Taree and Port Macquarie we offer easy access to school, youth and church groups as well as casual travellers seeking overnight or short-term accommodation.

Our facilities include a seven acre lake, canoes, tennis court, gymnasium, BBQ areas, conference centre, fully-equipped camp kitchen and dining facilities, campfire sites, and kilometres of walking tracks traversing the adjoining state forests.

Apart from our own facilities there is a wealth of things to do and see in our surrounding areas. Taree (Manning Valley), Forster/Tuncurry (Great Lakes), Laurieton (Camden Haven) and Port Macquarie (Hastings Valley) are all a short driving distance away and offer everything from wildlife parks to beautiful sandy beaches. Amenities

Camp Obadiah has a range of amenities designed to make your stay as pleasing and enjoyable as possible. We have a seven acre lake with islands, jetty and canoes; a fully equipped gymnasium; tennis court; BBQ areas, campfire areas, walking tracks; a fully equipped convention hall plus camp dining area and kitchen.

And best of all, there is no extra charge to use any of these amenities! It's all included in your accommodation tariff.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately due to an issue with the recent NBN implementation of it's wireless towers we are currently unable to provide a wireless internet service. Until this is resolved it will be necessary for guests to use their own mobile internet service. We apologise for any inconvenience.

A favourite amenity of Camp Obadiah is our seven acre lake.  The lake has four islands, a covered jetty, canoes & kayaks.

We have a large, modern and well-equipped kitchen for use when camps or conventions require to self-cater.

The camp dining room is attached to the camp kitchen.  There is enough space to seat up to 80 guests comfortably.

Our modern convention centre can seat up to 200 guests and is fully equipped with modern audio & visual facilities.

The gymnasium is equipped with weight training, treadmill, rowing machine plus more.  There is also a TV and dvd player.

Our covered BBQ areas are ideal for those sunny days when a good old sausage sizzle is just the trick for lunch or dinner.

The campfire site is ideal for bigger groups and can be made festive by the addition of a BBQ and coloured party lights.

Bordered on two sides by the Johns River State Forest, there are many walking trails available to those who like to keep fit.

Camp Obadiah offers several types of accommodation. Our air-conditioned self-contained units cater to the overnight traveller or short-term holiday guests.

We also have air-conditioned group accommodation rooms for camps, conventions, family reunions or retreats.

CAMP OBADIAH'S GROUP ACCOMMODATION BLOCK

Group Accommodation Block

Our group accommodation facility consists of ten dormitory rooms which can sleep up to fifty guests plus 2 fully self-contained apartments which are made available to facilitators and teachers.

Together with our self-contained units we can comfortably accommodate a group of 80 guests.

There are split-system air-conditioning units plus smoke & fire detectors fitted to every room. There are also two amenities areas (his & hers) under the same roof. Laundry facilities are available at the camp laundry.

Guests staying in the group accommodation block are required to supply their own bed linen/towels. (pillows and mattress protectors are provided)

CAMP OBADIAH'S SELF-CONTAINED UNITS

Self-Contained Units

Our Self-Contained Units are modern open-plan two bedroom units that can sleep up to a total of six guests. The units are spacious and contain everything you need for either an overnight stay or a long-term holiday.

The kitchen has a gas-range, microwave, fridge/freezer, all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is also a breakfast bar for those quick snacks.

The master bedroom has built-in wardrobes, a queen size bed, dressing table and bay window.

The second bedroom can be configured to suit but mostly contains single beds or bunks. It also has built in-robes.

Full laundry facilities are contained in each unit.

Our group accommodation block can accommodate up to 110 guests (if your group is larger please contact us as arrangements can be made to accommodate more)

Please note that the group accommodation rate is for self-catered camps only and includes use of all facilities including the lake & canoes, tennis court, campfire sites, camp kitchen, camp dining room, meeting hall and BBQ areas.  Guests are required to bring their own towels and bedding. Mattresses and Pillows with protectors are provided.

Groups that do not require accommodation such as weddings, training seminars, day conferences etc. are able to book our facility for daily use.

This fee is for groups up to 120 and includes full and exclusive use of our facilities including the camp kitchen & dining rooms, conference hall, BBQ sites, campfire sites, gymnasium, tennis court, lake and jetty.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that our cancellation policy is as follows:


​For a booking cancelled 61 days or more before the event – full refund

For a booking cancelled 31 to 60 days before the event – 50% refund

There is no refund for bookings cancelled less than 31 days prior to the event

Things to Do & Places to Visit

As well as our own facilities there is a myriad of activities to do in the surrounding localities.   The major regional centres of Taree and Port Macquarie are around 30 minutes away and the towns of Harrington, Crowdy Head, Laurieton, Dunbogan and North Haven are around 15 - 20 minutes away.

With national parks, state forests, beaches, walking trails, restaurants, cinemas, and other tourist attractions there’s sure to be plenty of things to do to occupy any group, family or individual.

Directions

If you are travelling north then you will need to turn right into the U-turn bay and cross the southbound lane into our property. This is 31.3km north of the South Taree overpass and 6.1km north of the Moorland (Forest Rd) overpass.

If you are travelling south then you can turn into our entrance on the left hand side of the southbound lanes. We are 38km south of the Port Macquarie overpass, 15.4km south of the Kew overpass and 2.2km south of the Johns River (Johns River Rd) overpass.

Once you have turned into our entranceway, you continue down and cross the railway level crossing, continue on past the lake and turn right at the T junction. You can then follow the signage to our administration building.
